Peel Away the Outer Shell

Vinz started out very young. In 2007 at the age of 17 he and Kathi Schwaiger founded the pop-culture fanzine HUSK. The magazine was their medium to express themselves and also to document their surroundings like parties and concerts. However, the magazine soon became more and grew to become a high-fashion niche magazine by focussing on art and fashion but also dealing with critical and radical thinking. “Radical thinking and not caring what the establishment thinks is avant-garde”. HUSK is not only documenting fashion, it tries to dive deeper into the topic by peeling away the outer shell and portraying the connections between art and fashion.

Vinz is introducing the concept of the “Cultural Flatrate” i.e. the basic idea that laws have to be adapted to fit the dynamics of content distribution of the online world. The digital revolution has obviously changed things. Everything is available somehow. The laws however seem always to be a step behind and not up to date. The idea of the Cultural Flatrate, as Vinz explains, would be a contemporary approach to deal with the constant development of the internet and the information that is available through it. It’s a forward thinking idea that aims to make the exchange and use of online information and content fairer for everyone. One of the first things that would need to be adapted is the conventional copy write. This is certainly no easy task but as Vinz explains. “Even if changes and developments are a challenge, they are needed for evolvements”.
