Telling a Story
A good book shop is hard to find and when you do it is a precious secret that you only share with your good friends. One of those shops is Ofr. You can feel the passion and excitement for print media when you are inside and discover all the beautiful magazines. At Ofr you can find books and magazines of the pop, lifestyle and creative culture scene. From Rick Owens to Warhol, from Purple Magazine to limited editions, it’s all there.
Marie Thumerelle and her brother Alexandre run the shop. They opened the shop for one simple reason. They just couldn’t get all the literature and magazines they liked in one place and so, realizing the need for such a place, they decided to act. -The business is running ever since. Ofr soon gained attention in the creative scene. Today, art and cultural exhibitions take place in the shop on a regular basis transforming the space into a temporary gallery.
One day illustrator Sophie Toulouse entered the store. First, only as a normal customer but soon she came more often and also brought her work with her namely her book: 'Nation of Angela'. It didn’t take long and the business relationship became a close friendship.
Sophie started out as a graphic designer and did this profession for a long time. One day, however, she changed her mind and decided to focus on illustrations and to use them as an artistic tool. She developed an idea and created a fantasy world around a character she named 'Angela'. Sophie’s style is subtle, fine and delicate. With her work she tells a story of a different world full of beauty and pure emotions.
