Space in Movement

When theater director Damien Chardonnet Darmaillacq met choreographer Vanessa le Mat, a whole new world opened up for him. Through his friendship with Vanessa, Damien discovered dance himself. Vanessa’s visual approach reflects on performance, space, and movement even while dancing. How do we move in space? In order to answer this question, Vanessa left the stage and explored dance in places like the Palais de Tokyo, where she performed an installation among the surprised museum visitors. She joined the Frankfurt Ballet in 2001, and then the Forsythe Company in 2006. Since 2007, she has lived and worked in Paris where she founded Walking Productions.
