“You might not like what I have to say,” Peter Saville told us when we met up with him for the interview, but of course we did. The London-based graphic design legend and meanwhile art director, who gained notoriety through his artwork for bands like New Order and Joy Division, is a keen observer of society and not shy to disclose his opinion.

With his view on the status quo he did not only make an interesting contribution to this digital compendium of personal views, but also to the TRANSMISSION1 festival in Berlin. We talked to Peter Saville at the BCC in Berlin the day before the event, where he set up his own car. The 1998 500 SL and its stereo playing Joy Division’s song 'Transmission' were his statement on avant-garde.
