Truth Liberated from Fact
30 April 2012
For Lauren Mackler, the director, designer, and creator of Public Fiction (the museum of), the world is full of make-believe and these fictions present an opportunity for experimentation. Public Fiction takes its form as a print publication and a physical space, and is according to Lauren, an unabashedly LA-centric project, a city based in fantasy and recreation. The storefront is located in Highland Park on the northeast reaches of Hollywood. At any given moment, the venue hosts installations, performances, and music shows. As a publication, Public Fiction combines the physical experimentation of the gallery with ephemera from outside happenings in and around LA.
